A sea of pink again flowed through the Vernon Golf and Country Club for the 9th Annual Wine, Women, and Woods "Tee off for the Cure" golf tournament on September 9th and 10th where through the amazing support of the community, $80,000 was raised!

Through the cooperation of the BC/Yukon Region of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation, we are thrilled to announce that the $80,000 that was raised in 2011 will go towards diagnostic equipment at VJH that is specific to breast cancer.

Watch the press for the upcoming media release announcing the arrival and implementation of this equipment at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital!

All funds raised directly benefit the community of the North Okangan!

The 2011 tournament was a phenomenal success! With the support of Vernon's Home Building Centre, the Vernon Golf and Country Club, and all of our other sponsors, our golfers and our community, we raised an amazing $80,000!  In total, Vernon's Wine, Women, and Woods has raised $495,000.00 in the fight to end breast cancer.

Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in Canadian women. In 2008 an estimated 22,400 women in Canada were diagnosed with breast cancer and an estimated 5,300 will die of it.

Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation statistics tell us that one in nine women is expected to develop breast cancer during her lifetime.  Your support of breast cancer research ensures that progress continues to be made in the search for a cure. Breast cancer death rates have declined in all ages combined and in every age group since the mid 1990s.
